Heroes Of The Storm 2.0 Exp Farming

  • The fastest way to farm gold in Heroes of the Storm is to simply apply a stimpack and play versus as much as you can. At worst, you get 25 gold, at best you get 75. After say 20 or 30 games, you'll have several thousand gold plus you'll be able to get as many heroes as you want to level 5 quickly (due to the 100% xp boost, effectively double XP).
  • In Heroes of The Storm, the length of the game is directly connected to the amount of XP rewarded at the end of the game. The longer the game goes on, the more experience you’ll gain at the end of the game. XP in-game helps you gain XP out of game. The more XP you earn during the game, the more your account gets when you finish.

Background[edit | edit source]

On March 29, 2017, game director Alan Dabiri announced Heroes of the Storm 2.0, described as 'a culmination of all the ways Blizzard transformed the Nexus since launch, plus plenty of radical additions on their way'. A major feature of the patch was a revamp of the player and hero progression systems. The level caps (40 for players in general, and 20 for individual heroes) were removed, and the uneven experience curve for levelling heroes was smoothed out. Another feature was the introduction of Loot Chests which contain cosmetic rewards, similar to the system used in Overwatch. In addition to heroes, skins, and mounts, the chests can also include new portraits, banners, custom announcer voices (similar to StarCraft II), hero voice lines, and graffiti sprays (both similar to Overwatch). A loadout system for cosmetic additions was also included. The in-game shop was remodeled and retitled 'Collection', and two new currencies were added in addition to the existing Gold: Gems (which can be earned in-game or purchased with real money), used to buy heroes, Loot Chests, and featured items, and Shards, awarded from Loot Chests and from duplicate items from Loot Chests. As part of the announcement, a new Diablo hero, the Amazon Cassia, was highlighted.

All players who logged in between April 25 and May 22 received 100 Gems, which could be used to permanently unlock 1 Mega Bundle of their choice. Once a Mega Bundle had been unlocked, the other three became unavailable.

Progression overhaul[edit | edit source]

At the center of Heroes 2.0 was a massive overhaul to progression so that it's more frequent, meaningful, and rewarding.

  • No more level cap
  • Player Level is the total of all Hero Levels gained
  • You get a Loot Chest every time you level up
  • Even bigger rewards at leveling milestones
The

Loot Chests[edit | edit source]

Heroes 2.0 introduced Loot Chests - packages received through progression or purchase that contain four random items drawn from nearly every reward in the game, including playable Heroes and Loot Chest-exclusive items. Now all the rewards the game had to offer became available to all players, including those who are strictly free-to-play.

  • Basic Chests are awarded with every Player Level
  • Rare, Epic, and Hero-specific Loot Chests are awarded for reaching specific milestones
  • Reroll Loot Chest contents using Gold
  • Loot Chest exclusives such as Prime Evil Diablo
  • Guaranteed to drop at least one item of that chest's rarity, or higher

New Social & Customization Rewards[edit | edit source]

Loot Chests contain a wealth of new cosmetic rewards: Taunt opponents with new Voice Lines, joke with teammates using Heroes Emojis, or have Abathur call all the action in a match? Logical decision.

  • Announcers: Let some of your favorite Heroes call out your takedowns, kill streaks, and more
  • Voice lines: Cheer on your allies and jeer your opponents with quotable catchphrases
  • Emojis: A massive collection of stylized and Hero-specific Emojis make chat much more expressive both in and out of the game
  • Banners: Raise a flag whenever you assert your dominance on the battleground
  • Sprays: Make your mark on the field of battle by dropping unique icons and tags on the terrain
  • Portraits: Show off your personality and expertise on loading screens and in your profile

Collection & Loadouts[edit | edit source]

The Heroes of the Storm in-game Shop was replaced by the Collection — a central location for purchasing new items, crafting cosmetics using Shards, and browsing and sorting through just about every item in the game. Customizable Loadouts allow players to gear up their Heroes so they inspire awe in allies and enemies alike.

  • Collection better supports the diversity of new items in the game
  • Forge the cosmetic rewards you've been dying to get using Shards—a new crafting material
  • Loadouts lets you outfit your Heroes with preferred skins, mounts, sprays, and more—even Announcers can be set on a per-Loadout basis
  • Each Hero can have up to three Loadouts

Updated currency system[edit | edit source]

Alongside Gold, Gems were added as a new virtual currency, which combined with Shard crafting provide all players with diverse options for acquiring playable Heroes and cosmetic rewards.

  • Gold unlocks new Heroes and rerolls Loot Chests.
  • Gems replace real money and are used to buy Heroes or items in the Featured Shop
  • Players are awarded 1000 Gems at level 5 and occasionally receive more through progression
  • Featured items will rotate regularly
  • Splitting skins up into their separate color variations makes it cheaper and easier to get exactly the item you want and nothing more

Heroes of the storm 2.0 exp farming guide

From the website:

Whether you’re a grizzled MOBA veteran, or you’re not quite sure what “mid lane” even means, Mega Bundles make it easier than ever to dive head-first into the Nexus! Each bundle contains 20 Heroes, and has its own unique theme. The best part? We’re giving you enough free gems to unlock the Mega Bundle of your choice once Heroes of the Storm 2.0 goes live in your region after April 25! Check out the Mega Bundles below to get a feel for which playstyle will suit you best, then take our quiz if you’re still not sure which bundle is right for you.

Limited time offer. Mega Bundles will be available following the launch of Heroes of the Storm 2.0 in your region, lasting until May 22, 2017. All players who log in to Heroes of the Storm during that timeframe will automatically receive 100 Gems, which can be used to permanently unlock one (1) Mega Bundle of their choosing. Choose wisely! Once you have unlocked one of the four Mega Bundles described above, the other three will become unavailable. (picked up by Trop)

To claim, install the game, start it up and go into the 'Collection' section and pick one of the bundles to purchase for 100 gems that is credited to your account. Be sure to claim your Mega Bundle before opening loot boxes. Some loot boxes will give you a hero. The Mega Bundles won't give you shards if there's a duplicate but the loot boxes will.

Some facts for those deciding on the various Mega Bundles and want to get the most value based on the in game gold currency. The current gold value of the packs are:

Storm

Assassin - 145,000
Flex - 123,000
Support and Specialist - 131,000
Tanks and Bruisers - 141,000

Assassin and T&B has the most 10k gold heroes at 8. Flex has the least at 6.

What I did for my main account (which I plan on obtaining all heroes on) was work out the gold value of the heroes I own in those packs and subtracted these values from the above totals to determine the net gold value of those packs for myself. Current gold cost per character here:

Of course, if you just want a bunch of free heroes to play the game with from time to time, pick the pack that has the heroes that suits you the most. For anyone farming daily quests, I'd also consider a pack with Abathur… pretty much the only hero you can set up and go afk in an AI game.

UPDATE: Launch event is 11am PDT 25 April which is 4am AEST 26 April.

UPDATE 2: Anyone just starting out and wanting to maximise the heroes you get shouldn't get the Assassin pack. Raynor and Sylvanas can be picked up for free via a 'Recruit a Friend' promo link: https://us.battle.net/account/en/creation/recruit.html?rid=L... (link corrected). The Flex bundle still has Sylvanas but if S&S or T&B isn't your playstyle, Flex will still let you get Raynor for free, though he's a 2k gold hero and easy to get.
