Mass produced the big Zam, once we have the Union will put an end! For Super Robot Taisen OG: The Moon Dwellers on the PlayStation 4, a GameFAQs message board topic titled 'Once Big Zam is mass-produced'.
- And the Fandom Rejoiced: The anime is finally getting released on DVD with a Japanese audio along with the English audio dub.
- Ass Pull: In the original animation, Amuro pulls out a heat-resistant film in the RX-78 Gundam to cover the whole mobile suit and save himself from burning up in the Earth's atmosphere. This was retconned in the remakes with a Heatproof Field which is a venting system that pumps out air to create a thermal shield in front of the Gundam.
- Author's Saving Throw: Most of the changes in the compilation movies (other than those made for time constraints) were basically done to fix problems caused by Executive Meddling or that Tomino didn't like in the original. Ironically, some of these (like the Gundam Hammer) were actually quite well liked by fans.
- The G-Fighter, a complicated Super Robot-esque support fighter with several outlandish combinations with the Gundam was replaced with the much more Real Robot-y Core Booster, just a simple support and weapons booster for the Core Fighters.
- The Gundam's more exotic weapons, like the Beam Javelin and Gundam Hammer are absent as the were mandated by the network to sell toys.
- As seen under Ass Pull, the Gundam's heat-proof film was widely disliked, and replaced with a more realistic cooling system.
- Big Lipped Alligator Moment: Frau Bow giving the kids a bath in the episode 'The Trap of M'Quve'.
- Complete Monster: Gihren Zabi, the Universal Century's very own Adolf Hitler... a comparison he accepts with pride.
- Draco in Leather Pants: Char.
- Even Gihren Zabi gets it himself in some circles of the fandom, especially the Japanese fan circles. That is despite him being behind the bulk of Zeon's war crimes in the One Year War and taking comparisons to Hitler as a compliment. There are even games allowing Zeon to win that envisions an Earth Sphere led by Gihren as a glorious future!
- Ensemble Darkhorse:
- Char, full stop (in Japan, he is just as iconic as Darth Vader to the Americans).
- Rambal Ral: the man has such dignity and likability about him that it inspires a strong Rooting for the Empire. His Gouf is similarly popular.
- The mobile suit Acguy has large number of fans who consider its big head, stumpy limbs and plump frame to be Ugly Cute. Its derivatives, the even more bizarre looking Agg, Juagg and Agguguy, aren't horribly unpopular themselves considering they were never actually on the show.
- Evil Is Cool:
- Zeon gets a lot of love from the fanbase. From its rhetoric to its frequent and impressive weapons. Even the Zakus, as disposable as they are, really has a cool warlike design that endures to this day.
- Char Aznable. It would be hard for him to be a bigger dick. It would also be hard for him to be a bigger Badass.
- Ramba Ral. A man with a charismatic presence, cool custom Gouf, and enough of sympathetic presence that you want him to win.
- The Black Tri-Stars aren't in the story for very long but they were a memorable trio of badass Ace Pilots that debut the equally cool Doms.
- Gihren Zabi. There's such charisma and depravity to him that he really stands out as the series's most evil character.
- Fashion Victim Villain M'quve. Nice, uh, frills...
- First Installment Wins: Pretty much. Of all the UC series, it's always this period that gets side stories, video games and such. Even though Zeta Gundam was more popular at the time of its airing, these days it's overshadowed by its progenitor. Some fans refer to this as 'the Star Trek syndrome'; while the sequel series may be vastly superior, the original show inspired a fandom.
- Ho Yay: Fans get giddy at the Char and Garma subtext, especially during the shower scene and their arranged plans.
- Hype Backlash: After listening to UC fans promote Mobile Suit Gundam 0079, it can be somewhat disappointing for some fans of other Gundam AU to watch the show. Not because it's bad, but because it cannot live up to the hype it's fans create for it. The same can be said for individual characters such as Char Aznable and Amuro Ray.
- Love to Hate: Char is this to the parts of the fanbase who aren't giving him leather pants. Gihren Zabi arguably qualifies as well. There's no doubt he's a total bastard, but he's just so good at it.
- Magnificent Bastard: Char, he has many moments of Magnificent Bastardry throughout the series, but one of his best is when he leads Garma Zabi into a trap, politely calls him on the phone, explains his motives, tells him goodbye and leaves him to die. YMMV on wheather you lose sympathy for Char as some see it as his Kick the Dog or Moral Event Horizon moment.
- Memetic Mutation: Besides the whole red thing, there's the infamous line Once the Big Zam is mass produced.
- Let's not forget a certain 'Jumping onto White Base'.
- AAAAAAH!
- ....No mention of the Bright Slap til now? Really?
- 'This is no Zaku boy, no Zaku!'
- Let's not forget a certain 'Jumping onto White Base'.
- Misaimed Fandom: Yes, the Federation has corrupt leaders. Yes, Zeon has many good, moral, people who serve it. Yes, the Titans are bad. That being said, it's a little scary how many fans will knee-jerk a SEIG ZEON for a regime that murdered, not millions, but BILLIONS of people and continue to wipe out metropolitan centers every few years... FOR FREEDOM.
- This seems to have seeped in writers of many of the UC side stories where the majority of Zeon characters are presented as the heroic ones while any good characters in the Federation are typically a Token Good Teammate, which ignores that while there was a fairly even balance of sympathetic characters in the original series on both sides, the worst characters were all in Zeon.
- Moral Event Horizon: Many found that Char crossed it when he arranged Garma's death. As for Gihren Zabi, pick something that he does. Anything.
- Narm: The crew crying and blaming themselves for Ryu's death. Changed for the compilation movies, fortunately.
- Never Live It Down: Kai Shiden is labeled a Dirty Coward by most of the crew early in the series for his bitter complaints about the situation they're in, despite the fact that he repeatedly undertakes dangerous assignments when necessary.[1] While the other characters eventually realize their mistake, the majority of the fandom seems to have ignored that and consider him a spineless jerk.
- In other circles, however, he's an Ensemble Darkhorse with a level of popularity that surpasses even Char Aznable. It helps that, come Zeta, he's effectively the Gundam series equivalent of James Bond.
- Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Kai Shiden, He get much better as story progress.
- Seinfeld Is Unfunny: Inevitable, given the number of homages the later shows in the franchise did, it means many plot points in the show don't stand out now as much as they did when they were first done. The show wasn't very successful when it initially aired, in fact leading it to end three episodes earlier than originally planned, meaning it didn't have the animation budget that later Gundam shows did, which can be clearly seen in how its animation is a lot less detailed and a lot slower paced. The dated animation and Early Installment Weirdness tone didn't appeal to many newcomers, even among several UC fans who prefer the later installments and OVA series.
- Squick: In the novel version, aside from the gross plot changes, Word of God states that Amuro's crush on Sayla culminated in him making a locket out of her pubic hair.
- It should be noted that Amuro himself initially thought this was disgusting, but was pressured into it by Kai and Hayato. It's apparently a combat pilot superstition that if a pilot gets into a relationship with a woman he must take an 'Amulet' with him on missions or risk bringing misfortune and death on the entire squad. Though there's also the implication that Kai is just making it up to screw with him.
- Actually, that tradition does exist, like it's shown in another manga. No, whether it's made of pubic hair or not... that is, well, something else.
- Strangled by the Red String: Amuro and Lalah's relationship just comes out of nowhere, as does their instant attachment to one another. The series justifies it, what with their Newtype powers having caused them to identify with one another, but that doesn't help make the relationship any more real to the audience. The strangling Newtype would become a tradition in Zeta Gundam.
- Too Cool to Live: Ramba Ral.
- Ugly Cute: The Aquatic Zeon Mobile Suits are paunchy, squat and less humanoid than the standard models but they can be quite cute especially the Acguy and, to a lesser extent, the Z'Gok.
- Vindicated by History: It's tough to believe that this show was canceled early due to poor ratings. And it's now the progenitor of one of the most renowned franchises in anime history.
- Wangst:
- Amuro's angst gets pretty extreme at times, with 'Fly Gundam!' and 'Amuro Deserts' making him come off especially unsympathetic. A lot of the more understandable reasons for his actions are often downplayed for a more general sense of angst that feels like a forced Conflict Ball more than anything. Fortunately, 2/3s through the series, he get's better.
- Hayato's as bad, or worse. His entire personality is based around resenting Amuro for being better than he is, and whining like a bitch whenever Bright praises the latter's performance. Perhaps his wangstiest moment comes following the latter's desertion, when he's so mad that Amuro wasn't executed for it, that hedeserts. You go, kid. That'll show them.
- What an Idiot!: Hayato deserting when Amuro wasn't executed for deserting. Logic clearly was not involved. Thankfully for both of them, they weren't part of the regular military at that point, and Ryu even reasons to Bright that they were on the spot draftees, so it would be too harsh to apply strict military rules to them.
- The Woobie: Miharu Ratokie.
- Lalah Sune too.
- ↑And after the war, he's left the danger of a MS cockpit for the safe career of war journalist.
Chapter 38
RedRat8- Okay, to be clear, Operation Stardust will happen, but it won't end as the same way as it did in canon. I assure you.
As for Cima, I'm actually conflicted on what to do with her. Either I save her for Post One Year War content or add her in right now to change events in A Baoa Qu. Its kind of though. Still thinking on it.
R reyes- What I meant with my comment is that I never read or heard of any official source stating that Jamitov was the reason that Zeon Zum Deikun died. I know very well that it was the Federation that caused the Laplace box incident as well as a lot of other stuff in the Universal century that caused it to be shot awful and a terrible place to live in.
RoyalTwinFangs- Well, they never got them replaced and they're still good with their shoulder cannons and armor. Course, they're going to be replaced later on with more advanced mobile suits, like the GM command and GM sniper II suits.
Moonreaper666- Mate, I'm going to say this in the nicest say I can possibly say this, while I appreciate your thoughts into this, I think you overplay the power of an artificial intelligence a bit. A GM with an AI is still a GM. It's certainly got better coordination and reaction times than a normal pilot that isn't a Newtype, but its still a GM. It can still be taken down with solid teamwork from a mobile suit team and in no way can a single GM, no matter how advanced the AI is, can take out dozens of Musai single handedly. (Well unless we go the Fairy Tail route of friendship power, but I don't think anyone wants that in Gundam. Well…anymore than what we have at the moment.)
Plus, some of your ideas don't make a lick of sense. A Salamis cruiser full of explosives ramming into A Baoa Qu while the Solar Ray aims at it can causing a major chain reaction? Ignoring the fact that the Solar Ray requires some set up, more than enough time for the Zeons to notice and send forces after it to stop it, how in the heck can the Federation manage to get a Salamis cruiser close enough without the Zeon forces blasting it to smithereens.
Look, I appreciate you giving these ideas, both in PMs and reviews, but I honestly don't think I should implement any of your thoughts into the story as some of them either make the power of an AI too powerful to the point of ridiculousness or make the Zeons look incompetent a bit…somewhat.
Is this harsh? Yes, and I'm sorry to disappoint you. Feel free to hate me for telling you this. But, in the event you want things done your way, you could always write a fic yourself with your ideas. You certainly got the imagination for it. Who knows? Maybe yours will be better than mine and be more popular than mine. Heck it might be the most popular story in the UC gundam fanfics. (Which isn't too hard to be honest.)

'You mean to tell me that Solomon is in danger of falling to the Federation!?' Yelled Kycilia to the messenger that gave her the news. She was in the process of approving the construction of another batch of Dom mobile suits as well as the approval of creating a new Zeon mobile suit, one capable of beam weaponry, when a messenger came with dire news. After wincing a bit, the messenger spoke again.
'It's true, lady Kycilia.' Said the messenger. 'Solomon is in desperate need of reinforcements. Apparently, the Federation deployed some new weapon that completely decimated them. They need reinforcements to turn the…' By that time, Kycilia ignored the man, having gotten the information she needed, and began contacting one of her best fleet commanders, captain Barom.
'Captain, gather what ships you can in a few hours. Solomon is in desperate need of reinforcements. We cannot let Solomon fall!' Yelled Kycilia.
Tianem
'Paris, what's the situation with the Solar Ray?' Asked Tianem as he watched the battle unfold with the Federation steadily gaining territory. There were still a few patches of enemy ships putting up a fight, but they'll soon be taken care of.
'Twenty percent of the solar panels were burnt out.' Said Paris as he gave his report. 'If we fire it again, the Solar Ray system will only be at seventy percent efficiency. Though I don't think we need it to be at a hundred percent.' Tianem nodded at that, fully believing that the Solar ray won't be needed anymore.
'What about the enemy forces along with ours? What's the situation?' Asked Tianem.
'The remaining Gwazine battleship is being taken off by the cruiser group five and twenty-two. The Gundam of the White Base is providing much needed assistance. I calculate that it'll fall within the hour. Aside from that, however, we're currently winning on all other fronts. All fields are under our control and our forces are reporting in that they've taken control off most of the remaining docks and ports in Solomon.' Said Paris, finishing his report. Tianem nodded at that. Though it seemed like they were winning, Tianem knew that the tide of war can change easily. That and the fact that Dozle hadn't been seen since his talk with the man prior to the battle. It didn't fit the man's personality to not be in the thick of things with his men. He was planning something…but what?
'We have to be ready.' Thought Tianem as he looked at the battle before him. 'Dozle isn't one to miss the fighting. He's has something. Something that may turn the tide of this battle.'
Amuro
'We got them on the run! Keep hitting them!' Yelled a GM pilot as he blasted a Zaku in the chest, destroying it. True to the pilot's word, Zeon forces were starting to retreat to Solomon, both ships and mobile suits.
The crippled Gwazine tried to follow, but this left it's large engines open to fire from the remaining Magellan and Salamis ships.
'Fire on the engines! Don't let that ship escape!' Yelled the captain of the sole remaining Magellan battleship left. Guns aimed at the Gwazine's engines, the Federation ships opened fire on the Gwazine's engines. The first few shots missed, but the majority of the shots managed to hit the ship's left engine, causing massive explosions that knocked out the other engines. Without it's engines, the Gwazine began to slowly float towards Solomon, leaving it easy prey to the Federation.
Concentrating their fire, the Federation ships fired everything they had at the Gwazine, creating massive holes in its superstructure until eventually, several mega particle beams pierced the armor of the ship and hit the reactor, causing a critical meltdown. The Federation forces then witnessed the ship exploding, sending debris everywhere.
Raising his shield to protect the Gundam, Amuro watched as the explosion died down and the comm chatter lit up with cheers from the Federation forces. Amuro, however, was preparing to leave to help his friends. He was about to leave when a GM came up to him.
'Hey! You're the Gundam from the White Base right!' Yelled a woman's voice as the GM came over. Blinking at the proclamation, Amuro looked at the GM and opened a commlink.
'Yeah.' Said Amuro as the GM came closer. 'That's us. Listen I got to go and help my ship so…'
'Of course!' Yelled the woman, understand Amuro's urgency in leaving. There were still in a battle after all. 'I just want to say thank you. From me and my friends. We wouldn't have survived without you. You're a hero to us.' Actually pausing at that, Amuro sighed. While grateful for the praise, he felt like he didn't deserve it.
'Sorry, but I don't think I'm a hero.' Said Amuro before taking off, leaving the woman a bit stunned.
'Well, that was rude.' Said the woman before talking to her AI. 'Can you believe that guy, Lightning? I told him he was a hero and he just brushed him off.'
'To be fair to him, Miss Carlyle.' Said Lightning. 'A hero is only a distinction given to those that deem a person's actions to be heroic in their pint of view. For example, to us he is a hero for saving our lives, but in the Zeon's case, he is a monster that has helped killed one of their most powerful ships and has been instrumental in taking down one of their most popular leaders. Along with his ship. To us, Char is a monster for destroying five battleship in the battle of Loum, but to the Principality, he is a hero, standing up against a government they deem to be oppressive. In reality, a hero is just someone that's doing what they think is right and it's a term given to those that fall in agreement with their ideals. The Gundam's pilot understand this, I believe.' Bianca sighed at that long explanation.
'Gosh, you sure do get philosophical at times.' Said Bianca. 'Should have requested a different AI when I had a chance. Before I got attached to you.'
'Apologies if that offends you, Bianca. I'm simply stating my views on heroes and defending the Gundam pilot's brushing off of you declaring him a hero.' Said Lightning, causing Bianca to sigh again.
'I know.' Said Bianca. 'Not arguing with you. Or that pilot.' She then received orders from her commander, telling her to proceed to field C with the remaining mobile suits. 'Alright, we got our orders. Let's go to field C.'
Meanwhile
Kai
'Damn!' Yelled Kai as his Guncannon shook from an explosion that occurred just inches from it. After enduring the shockwaves, Kai aimed his Guncannon's shoulder cannons and fired, taking out a Zaku with a bazooka. With the Zaku destroyed, more Doms and Zakus came out of hiding from various corners of the hallway in front of them and opened fired on the Federation, taking out two Balls and a GM. Retaliating the Federation destroyed three Doms and four Zakus. Soon they were advancing, forcing the Zeons to retreat.
'Running away won't help!' Yelled Monsha as he fired, taking out a Zaku. 'We'll just shoot you in the back and ass!'
'Something isn't right.' Said Burning as the Federation ceased fire once the enemy was no longer in their sights. 'Dozle Zabi hasn't been reported in anywhere in the battle. It's not like him.'
'What do you mean, sir?' Asked Hayato as he walked up to Burning in his Guncannon.
'You may not know it, but Dozle is the type of commander that'll take to the field when things get dicey for his side.' Explained Burning. 'Situation is desperate for Zeon. Dozle is sure to fight personally, but we never got any reports of him anywhere. And it's got me worried.'
'Ah, you're worrying too much, lieutenant.' Said Monsha, cocky as ever. 'We got this in the bag, sir. There's no need for concern.'
'Yeah it used to, before you jinxed us.' Said Kai, getting a sudden bad feeling.
Field A
'Advance! There's only two mobile suits left!' Yelled a GM team leader as his team moped the floor with Zeon mobile suits. After a barrage of bullets and beams of Minovsky particles, only a Zaku and Dom were left. But unknown to the Federation forces, there was something behind those two mobile suits, something far more dangerous than anything that the Zeon has deployed so far in the battle. Walking towards the Federation forces, the Zeon weapon made itself known.
Seeing the weapon made the Federation pause in shock. The weapon was three times the height of a Zaku, most of which was taken by its long legs. Its green body, that was only supported by the two legs, looked down at the Federation forces and charged up its giant cannon in the middle of the body.
Seeing this, several AIs tried to dodge, but it was too late and the mobile armor fired a stream of Minovsky particles at the forward Federation forces, obliterating them all. Seeing the destructive power, the remaining Federation forces opened fire on the giant mobile armor, only to see, to their horror, their beam weaponry were having no effect and were being deflected away by some sort of invisible barrier. To make the situation even worse, their projectile weapons had barely any effect on the massive mobile armor, making only slight dents in its thick armor hull.
'Refractor! Inform everyone of the situation!' Yelled a pilot as he and his fellow GMs and Balls opened fire on the massive mobile armor that was steadily approaching them.
'Affirmative. Alert! Alert! Federation forces! Unidentified enemy mobile armor has been sighted! All mobile suit weaponry is ineffective! Beam weaponry is being deflected by unknown technology and projectile weaponry are having no affect! Requesting…' The AI couldn't say anymore as the mobile armor fired and destroyed the remaining Federation forces.
Dozle
'*laughing out loud* Witness the power of the Big Zam! Zeons recent innovation!' Yelled Dozle as the Big Zam's mega particle cannon stopped firing, allowing him to see the melted down remains of Federation mobile suits. 'Once we get the Big Zam to mass production, we'll crush the Federation!' Dozle then laughed a good long minute after that declaration. As soon as he calmed down, however, he contacted Solomon's command center, where his aide, Twaning was. 'Twaning, what's the status of our warships? How many are left?'
'I'm afraid to say that we only have a Chivvay class warship and two Musai ships in reserve, sir. The enemy has wiped out the rest of our ships. The ones that remain have fled the battle.' Said Twaning. Dozle hummed at that and began forming a battle plan. With those ships, there was no way he can muster a win from the Federation. The best he could do was fight a delaying fight so that his remaining men can flee to friendly territory.
'I see.' Said Dozle. 'And is the evacuation complete? Is my family safe?'
'They were the first one out, sir.' Said Twaning. 'The first wave managed to escape safely in its entity. But I can't say the same for our remaining shuttles. The Federation will undoubtably catch them all if we don't provide some sort of covering fire.' Dozle nodded at that, knowing that Twaning was right. Now knowing what he had to do, he looked at Twaning and spoke.
'Twaning, tell our remaining ships to head straight for where the enemy's new weapon came from. I'll lead our remaining mobile suits at the same target. After that, get yourself and the rest of the command staff into the remaining shuttles.' Ordered Dozle, surprising his friend. 'Our battle strength is all but exhausted. We're going to abandon Solomon. Hopefully the Principality can retake Solomon before the Federation digs in.' Twaning, knowing how stubborn his friend is, nodded and wished him good luck, something that Dozle returned. Closing his eyes, Dozle thought of his family one last time before opening his eyes. 'All mobile suits! Follow me! We're taking the fight straight to the enemy fleet!'
Amuro
'Beam weaponry is being deflected by unknown technology and projectile weaponry are having no affect! Requesting…'
That was all Amuro and the Federation forces in Field C heard before the comm channel went dark. Everyone who heard the transmission, which was basically everyone single mobile suit pilot, were in shock. Too stunned to say anything. It was Monsha that broke the silence.
'The fuck?' Asked Monsha. 'What the hell happened?'
'I'll tell you what happened.' Said Chap. 'The enemy has a new weapon that took out our guys in Field A.'
'Yeah and by the sounds of it, its got something that has something that can make beam weaponry ineffective.' Said Alpha, slightly worried at that implication.
'What do we do then?' Asked Hayato, fear in his voice. 'That thing might come here and finish us too.' That caused a few pilots to shiver at the thought. A few of the veterans, however, kept them in line.
'If it does, we'll fight it.' Said Burning, authority in his voice. 'I don't care if that thing can take us all out, if it's a threat to me and my men, I'm going to fight it.' He then moved his GM towards every single mobile suit around him. 'Even if I had to fight it alone, I'll still do it because its my job a soldier to do it. And while you all might not share that sentiment with me, that's alright. I lived a long life anyway. Better for us all that the old geezers die rather than young people like you. But if you want to come, I won't stop you.' Everyone stayed silent at that, staring at Burning's GM before Monsha sighed.
'God damnit. You crazy bastard.' Said Monsha before nodding his GM's head, signifying that he was in. 'One of these days, you're going to get me killed. But until that day, I'm going to keep you from getting killed.'
'And I'm going to be there with you, covering your back. Same with Chap.' Said Alpha as he and Chap's GMs came up to Burnings'. Smirking at his teammates, Burning has his GM looked at everyone else, waiting for their response.
'Well, I'll be called a coward again if I don't fight that thing.' Said Kai before whispering his last sentence. 'Plus, Miharu wouldn't forgive me if I didn't fight the Zeons, no matter the odds.'
'Same here.' Said Hayato. 'I'm not going to forgive myself if I don't try to help out.' Burning smiled at the two White Base veteran pilots. He was about to speak when he was interrupted.
'And I'm not backing down either.' Said Amuro as his Gundam appeared with several other GMs and Balls. 'If that things continues to fight, we're going to lose more men. I'm not going to let that happen.'
'Neither will I.' Said Vega as the Gundam walked up to Burning's GM. 'And I suspect my fellow AIs wish the same thing, correct?'
'Correct.' Said Frost before other AIs began expressing their familiar sentiments. The chorus of artificial intelligences, combined with the unwavering spirit of the White Base team, made the other pilots stand up and throw in with them.
'I'll be damned.' Said Burning with a smirk, seeing that no single mobile suit pilot was backing out. 'And here I was thinking that we have at least one guy that didn't want to fight.'
'You kidding?!' Yelled a woman in a GM that was from Amuro's group. 'We're not going to let some new Zeon weapon scare us! We'll fight with you.' Several other pilots gave out similar words of agreement. Nodding at that, Amuro began to spoke.
'But first, we need a plan.' Said Amuro. 'That AI said that weapon can deflect beam weaponry, so that means the only weapons that'll work are projectile weapons.'
'But the AI also said that projectile weapons were ineffective. How are we going to win if the only weapons that'll work are ineffective?' Said Kai, also in, but also knew that they need a good game plan.
'True, but we don't know what the AI meant in terms of projectile weapons.' Said Burning. 'It's possible that they ran out of ammo for their bazookas when they encountered it. So, our bazookas could still be able to deal damage on it.'
'Let's hope that's true because this will be a massacre if it's capable of enduring our bazookas.' Said Monsha with some pilots also agreeing with him. Before any of them could make a plan, they suddenly received orders from Wakkein.
'All mobile suit forces on Fields B and C, enemy forces are attempting to breach our lines!' Yelled Wakkein as he received panicked transmission from the ships at Field A. Apparently some new enemy weapon was attempting to head towards the Solar Ray system and its guarding fleet. 'They're attempting to reach our new weapon. Do not let them get within weapon range! Send half of our forces to deal with it while the rest focus on capturing Solomon!'
'You heard the man!' Yelled Burning as Wakkein continued to give out orders. 'We got to go! Now!'
With that every single mobile suit left to go catch this new weapon before it could either destroy or capture their new weapon.
Ten minutes later
Salamis cruiser
'Stop that thing!' Yelled a Salamis captain as his ship opened fired with everything its got on the new enemy weapon. To his dismay, the weapon was deflecting all his ship's beam weaponry while the enemy mobile suits and ships were aiming at the missiles, preventing them from hitting the new weapon. Seeing this, the captain saw a weakness in the weapon. It couldn't deflect missile fire. Knowing that this needed to be transmitted across the fleet, he ordered his AI to send the news to every ship it could get in range.
'Affirmative. Sending information now.' Said the AI as he did so. Just in time too as the new weapon aimed its main gun at the Salamis cruiser and fired. The giant beam of energy it fired tore a giant hole in the Salamis cruiser. The cruiser stayed intact for awhile before it exploded, sending shrapnel everywhere. The new weapon then fired more beams of Minovsky particles from guns mounted all around its oval-like body, destroying any fighters of enemy ships they hit.
As this was happening, Dozle was laughing out loud.
'Like I said, once this weapon is mass produced, nothing can stop Zeon from conquering the Federation!' Yelled Dozle, pleased with the Big Zam's performance. He then looked at his copilots. 'What's the status of the Big Zam? Any problems?'
'Everything is working fine, admiral.' Said one copilot, looking at Dozle. 'However, the reactors are somewhat in danger of overheating. We should use the mega particle guns sparingly, sir. They're putting a massive strain on the reactors.' Dozle, understanding this, nodded.
'Very well.' Said Dozle. 'Where's the enemy weapon? Are we close?'
'Yes sir.' Said the other copilot. 'We just need to travel forty-five degrees to the west and keep traveling for five more minutes. After that, we'll be in weapon range of the weapon and whatever ships are guarding it.' Dozle nodded at that and smiled savagely.
'Good.' Said Dozle before looking at both copilots. 'Transfer all your controls to me. This battle will end with the Big Zam destroyed, I know it. I don't want you both along with the rest of the crew to die with me.' Upon hearing that, they both tried to protest, but Dozle raised his hand. 'Don't waste your lives. Just go. That's an order!' Silently looking at their admiral, the two copilots gave him a salute before leaving. Humming at that, Dozle then ordered the evacuation of the Big Zam and for two mobile suits to take them away from the battlefield.
Five minutes later, the evacuation was complete and a Zaku and Dom were towing the crew of the Big Zam with cables. As the two mobile suits towed the crew to safety, the remaining Zeon forces began to move towards the Solar Ray system, where Tianem and the fifth fleet was waiting.
Tianem
Few minutes later
'Sir, three enemy ships along with a platoon-sized unit of Doms and Zakus are moving towards us. Along with an unidentified mobile armor. We have reason to believe that it's the same mobile armor that has massacred the force in Field A.' Said a comms operator as their forward ships began opening firing on the enemy forces. Tianem frowned as he readied himself for a fight.
'Paris, are the missiles ready to fire?' Asked Tianem as he saw from a monitor above him that the enemy was advancing steadily towards the heart of the fifth fleet, where his ship was in.
'Yes, sir. Once the enemy weapon is in range, we'll fire all our missiles at it. It should not be able to sustain missile fire from over forty ships.' Said Paris. 'However, should it fail, I'll have the Solar ray fire at a moment's notice. Though I hope that it won't be necessary as the friendly fire would be…devastating.'
'Agreed.' Thought Tianem. He didn't want to use the Solar Ray system right in his own fleet, but if he didn't, then this thing will continue to destroy the Federation forces on Solomon. Pursing his lips, Tianem watched as a comm operator reported in that cruiser group nine has been wiped out. Another then reported in that the enemy weapon will be in missile range in two minutes. Tightening his hold on his chair, Tianem watched as the red lights from the monitor closing in on the heart of his fleet. Just as it engaged another cruiser group, Tianem heard the comm officer yelling something that stunned him.
'Sir! Reinforcements from Field C and B are arriving! The White Base's Gundam is leading them!' Yelled the comm officer. Hiding his surprise, Tianem wondered how to make use of this knowledge to take down the enemy forces.
Amuro
'Look at that!' Yelled Kai as they watched the new enemy weapon take out two cruiser with a single large mega particle blast, all the while deflecting any beam attacks that were aimed at it.
'So, it looks like it can deflect capital ship grade beam cannons too.' Said Burning as he watched this fold. 'This is going to be though.'
'Affirmative, but look.' Said Frost as the mobile suits shot down any missiles that were aiming at the mobile armor. 'It appears that it can't deflect missile fire. It entirely in the field of possibility that it can't survive a direct blast from several capital grade missiles.'
'Then that's the plan.' Said Burning before addressing the mobile suit force that was with them. 'Take out all the mobile suits accompanying that mobile armor along with any machine guns mounted on those ships. Without them, that thing is vulnerable to missile fire!' He then looked at Amuro and contacted him personally. 'Amuro, I know this may seem unfair, but I need you along with Kai and Hayato to distract that thing from destroying the fifth fleet.' Amuro nodded at that, not objecting at that. The Gundam was a symbol of Federation power after all. Its reputation must be legendary amongst Zeon forces with how it was part of the reason Ramba Ral and Garma Zabi were dead. No doubt the mobile armor's crew would want to kill him and the Gundam.
'I understand.' Said Amuro before contact Kai and Hayato. 'Guys, we got to distract that mobile armor! You guys cover me. I'll try to draw it's fire.'
'Oh great! We get the fun job!' Complained Kai before following Amuro with Hayato in tow. 'How exactly are you going to get that thing's attention, anyway?'
'Simple.' Said Vega. 'We fire missiles at it.' With that, Amuro fired his last multi-missile at the mobile armor, watching as all the missiles hit the bottom of the mobile armor, where there seemed to three big thrusters were. To their astonishment, the mobile armor endured the missiles, but the thrusters were heavily damaged. After the missiles were all used up, the mobile armor turned to face the two Guncannons and Gundam.
Upon seeing the Gundam, Dozle went into a rage.
'You!' Yelled Dozle as he looked at the Gundam. 'You're the one responsible for Garma's death! Today, I'll avenge my brother!' With that, Dozle aimed the Big Zam's main mega particle cannon at the Gundam and began charging it up.
'Oh shit!' Yelled Kai and Hayato as they both moved away from Amuro, who instead went below so that the mega cannon won't hit any Federation forces. Bracing himself as the mega cannon fired, the Gundam just barely dodged the massive beam of energy.
'Keep distracting it, Amuro.' Said Vega as Federation mobile suits engaged Zeon ships and mobile suits. He then saw the Big Zam pursuing them with its damaged thrusters, firing several machine guns at it. 'It's seems that it hates us.'
'I can see…oh shit!' Yelled Amuro as the mobile armor fired several purple missiles from its feet, which went after the Gundam. Aiming the beam rifle and cannon, he destroyed all of them and kept moving around the mobile armor while firing at it, to distract the mobile armor from other Federation forces. Glaring at the Gundam, the mobile armor aimed at its big mega particle cannon at the Gundam and charged it up. As it was charging up, it was suddenly hit in the back.
'You forgot about us!?' Yelled Kai as he fired several rounds from his Guncannon's shoulder cannons, Hayato doing the same. Their rounds destroying several of the mega cannons around the mobile armor's body. With that barrage, Amuro got away to safety. Looking back at the machine, Amuro could see that it was turning towards Kai and Hayato.
'Oh no you don't!' Yelled Amuro as he fired two rockets at the mobile armor. One rocket missed the mobile armor entirely, but the other hit it in the leg, damaging it in the joints.
'Damage done to the superstructure confirmed.' Said Vega as he analyzed the damage done. 'It seems our projectiles can do sufficient damage to the mobile armor. Though we're very low on effective munitions.'
'I know.' Said Amuro as he saw that they only had one rocket left. 'We just need to distract it though. Once Burning and the others take out the ships and mobile suits, our own ships can take it out with a concentrated missile barrage.
'Yes, but I have a theory. We don't need to do it, but it might prove useful later on should we encounter another mobile armor like this.' Said Vega. Hearing that caused Amuro to ask what. 'From what I've observed of the weapon, it seems to deflect beam weaponry from a certain distance away from it. It's entirely possible that whatever is protecting the mobile armor from Minovsky particle based weaponry can only do so from a certain range.'
'So, you think that we can take it out if we get close enough to blast it.' Said Amuro, getting what Vega is trying to say.
'Affirmative. It'll be risky though.' Said Vega as he gave Amuro a detailed scan of the mobile armor, most of which was it currently identified weapons and where they're located in.
'Yeah, but with proper coordination with Kai and Hayato, we got this.' Said Amuro before contacting his friends. 'Guys, I got a crazy idea that I need your help in pulling off.'

Burning
'Oh great! We get the fun job!' Complained Kai before following Amuro with Hayato in tow. 'How exactly are you going to get that thing's attention, anyway?'
Ignoring how they do it, Burning and the other mobile suits charged right in on the remaining Zeon mobile suits, who, upon seeing the Gundam and two Guncannons charge at the mobile armor, tried to stop them only to be intercepted by around fifty GM and Ball mobile suits.
'Chap! Take Alpha and a bunch of other grunts!' Yelled Burning as he engaged in a sword battle with a Dom. 'We'll take these guys!'
'Got it!' Yelled Chap before taking off with Alpha and twenty GMs, all of which were armed with Bazookas or beam spray guns.
Fighting Style
As Burning was fighting the Dom to a standstill, a Zaku came up with a heat hawk. Letting Frost deal with it, Burning fired his GM's vulcan guns at the Dom's optical eye, taking it out. As the Dom pilot flinched at this sudden attack, the Zaku came up and aimed down his heat hawk at Burning's GM.
Smirking, Burning let Frost take over, who gladly went over all the possible outcomes of the situation and picked the best option.
Grabbing the Zaku's arm holding the heat hawk with the GM's free hand, Frost then had the GM kick the Dom away before stabbing the Zaku at where the pilot is, incinerating him. It then let go of the Zaku and quickly stabbed the Dom before it could recover, killing its pilot.
'Great work, Frost.' Said Burning as he took control of his GM. 'Good performance as ever.'
'I aim to please.' Said Frost before scanning their situation. 'Friendly forces are quickly destroying enemy mobile suits. And the suits that have engaged the enemy ships have destroyed most of their machine guns. I estimate it'll be around four more minutes until the enemy's ability to destroy our missiles will be rendered null.'
'Good.' Said Burning as he saw various Federation mobile suits wiping out their Zeon counterparts with ease, thanks to their numbers and, perhaps even because of that, their artificial intelligences. 'What about Amuro and the others?'
'They're still facing that mobile armor. It seems that the mobile armor is focusing solely on the Gundam for reasons I can't comphrenen…odd. Vega has just informed me that they have a plan to take the mobile armor right now while also keeping the frame intact.' Said Frost, surprising Burning.
'What?' Asked Burning before he could even comprehend that, a five Zakus came right at him. 'Damnit!' He then boosted away from the Zakus and opened fire on them, firing a beam shot at all five. With precise aiming from Frost, they were able to take out two of them with ease, but the remaining three dodged the attacks. They then opened fire on Burning, forcing him to use his shield to block most of the shots. While the shield did well against the bullets, it didn't do so well against the rockets, which destroyed the shield after the first two hit it. Then another rapidly came and destroyed the arm that held the remnants of the shield while also taking a sizable chuck of the torso.
'Damage to superstructure nearly exceeding reactor tolerance. Compensating now. Incoming enemy forces!' Said Frost as the Zakus, firing or reloading their weapons.
'Damn it.' Said Burning as he fired again at them, concentrating fire on one Zaku. He took out one of them and was about to aim at another when a Zaku fired a bazooka round at him, forcing him to fire at it with his Vulcans. The resulting explosion disoriented the cameras a bit. Once they cam back online, Burning saw the two Zakus charging in with heat hawks.
Keeping calm, Burning fired the last few shots in his beam spray gun at one Zaku, who dodged all the shots while making his move against Burning. Tossing the empty gun away, Burning brought out his beam saber and got ready for a final stand.
As they moved in, the two Zakus split up and hit Burning at two different angles, meaning if Burning took on one Zaku, the other will take him out when he's distracted. With only one arm and both Zakus' coming from different angles above him, Burning stood no chance of surviving. But that didn't mean he wasn't going to go out with a bang.
Looking at the two Zakus, Burning got ready for his last fight when a pink beam suddenly hit one Zaku while several missiles hit the other one. As the two Zakus exploded, two Core boosters came into Burning's view.
'Woo hoo!' Yelled Sleggar as he cheered himself for his kills. 'That's two more for me, little Ryu. Hope you're keeping track.'
'Yes sir.' Said Ryu, a bit annoyed with Sleggar's behavior, but impressed with his flying. He then contacted the pilot that they saved. 'GM pilot, I recommend you get out of there. You're too damaged to be of any help anymore.' Hearing Ryu's voice, Burning contacted him.
'Ryu, its me. Lieutenant Burning.' Said Burning, surprising both Ryu and Sleggar.
'Hot damn! This just keeps getting better!' Yelled Sleggar with a chuckle. 'You owe me one, lieutenant. Looks like your fancy AI couldn't save you from that.'
'Well, he's currently saving me from dying from my own mobile suit's explosion.' Said Burning as he looked at his suit's systems, finding out that, had he taken anymore damage, the suit would have exploded, taking him and Frost with him. Fortunately Frost was doing what he can to stabilize the GM. 'So, cut him some slack.'
'We still recommend you head to safety, lieutenant.' Said Ryu as he flew over to Burning's GM. 'Grab on to my fighter. I'll take you back to the White Base.'
Knowing that he wasn't any more use, Burning agreed and had Frost take over so he can grab onto the Core Booster when it came by them. Bracing himself, Burning grunted as the GM grabbed on to the Core booster and he was hit with the sudden G force increase. As the core booster made its way back to safety, Burning asked Ryu what's the situation around the rest of Solomon.
'The rest of the enemy force has either retreated or wiped out sir.' Said Ryu. 'We detected several waves of shuttles leaving Solomon, but we were too busy with the remaining enemy forces to give chase to any of them. Hopefully we'll put up a taskforce in time before enemy reinforcements arrive to pick them up.'
'Hopefully.' Said Burning, agreeing with Ryu. He then talked to Frost. 'Frost, what about Amuro, Kai, and Hayato? Did they win?'
'Contacting Vega right now. I should get a response in a few minutes.' Said Frost as he did this. Just moments after he said this, he suddenly received a transmission that was relayed to all channels.
'All Federation forces, this is admiral Tianem.' Said the broadcast. 'The battle is over. All enemy forces have either retreated or had been wiped out. Solomon is ours.'

Amuro

'Oh no!' Yelled Hayato as the last missile of the massive mobile armor came straight for him. Firing his Vulcans at it, Hayato looked on in horror as it came right at him, the Vulcans doing little to stop it.
The missile would have pierced right through the cockpit if it hadn't been for Kai kicking the missile away, sending it veering away from Hayato.
'Jesus, Hayato. Stay focused!' Yelled Kai before grabbing Hayato's Guncannon and flying away, firing at the Big Zam as it fired several mega particle cannons at them. Dodging most of them, Kai yelled out as one mega particle blast hit his Guncannon's legs, melting the legs away and fusing wires together. As alarms blared out around his cockpit, Kai contacted Amuro.
'Amuro! Now's your chance! Take it out!' Yelled Kai as the mobile armor turned towards the two Guncannon's, aiming its big gun at them.
'Roger!' Yelled Amuro as he charged straight at the from above the mobile armor. 'You're not taking my friends!' Readying his rocket launcher and taking a beam saber from his backpack, Amuro yelled out as he activated his beam saber and stabbed the mobile armor at its very tip. Unbeknownst to him, that was where the cockpit was and the pilot just barely managed to survive the hit.
'Impossible!' Yelled Dozle as he saw the beam saber from his seat in the cockpit. Even though he could feel the intense heat the beam saber was giving off, he still couldn't believe that three enemy mobile suits were enough to beat the Big Zam. 'How could three meager mobile suits defeat such a glorious weapon!?' Refusing to be beaten like this, Dozle was about to grab a gun and fight the Gundam when it dragged it's beam saber towards Dozle, causing him to scream in rage as he was incinerated by the beam saber. During his last moments, Dozle thought of his family and wondered if they would be safe.
'Enemy suit has stopped functioning.' Said Vega as he scanned the enemy mobile armor, finding that it wasn't moving or anything after Amuro stabbed the mobile armor and moved the beam saber a bit to do more damage. 'Looks like we hit the cockpit. I'll contact the Federation fifth fleet. Let them know that we stopped the mobile armor and that its ready for salvage.'
'Got it.' Said Amuro as pushed the Gundam away from the Big Zam, sighing as he did so. 'This battle was rough. First battle back in space and its something like this. Quite a week, huh?'
'I suppose, but they'll only get more hectic from here.' Said Vega after he finished contacting the fifth fleet. 'If you need comfort without exposing your relationship with Chan, talk to me. Or others in the crew. Its always important to talk with your crewmates of your troubles.'
'I know. Thanks for the reminder, Vega.' Said Amuro as he looked at the stars. 'For now, though, I just like to take relax a bit. It's been an exhausting battle.'
'You're telling us!' Yelled Kai as he and Hayato arrived with their damaged Guncannons. A bit worse for wear, but nothing that they haven't faced before. 'When we get back to the ship, we're better have a big party for surviving!' That caused Hayato and Amuro to chuckle. The three would have continued their conversation when Tianem began to address Federation forces in the area.
'All Federation forces, this is admiral Tianem.' Said Tianem as he got up from his captain's chair. 'The battle is officially. All enemy forces have either retreated or had been wiped out. Solomon is ours.'
Few days later
Granada
'So, Solomon has fallen.' Said Kycilia in frustration as Barom gave his report. Unfortunately, the Zeon reinforcements arrived several days late to help Solomon, which had fallen in just a day. By the time they arrived, the enemy had already fortified their position on Solomon and received reinforcements in the form of General Revil's first fleet and Gopp's 2nd fleet. No way was Barom going to be able to beat the combined power of three entire Federation fleets. So, in the end, Barom made a call and tried to gather what Zeon forces escaped Solomon. He did this for three days and only managed to find around several thousand individuals, most of which were noncombatants.
To make matters worse, they didn't get all of Solomon's shuttles before they had to pull out. Some were captured by Federation forces, who found their distress beacons before them, or veered off course and were now drifting in space, doomed to die starving unless someone found them in time.
'I'm sorry, lady Kycilia.' Said Barom, bowing his head. 'I take full responsibility for this.'
'Don't.' Said Kycilia, knowing that Barom wasn't in fault for this. The Federation's new weapon was more dangerous than she thought. They had to figure out what happened and how the weapon worked. 'Solomon fell faster than we anticipated. No matter what you did, you couldn't have prevented Solomon's fall before you arrived.' Kycilia then sighed. 'Is Dozle amongst those rescued?'
'No.' Said Barom. 'I'm afraid Dozle took what remaining combat capable ships and mobile suits and fought the enemy to give the shuttles time to evacuate. It's likely he's dead.' Kycilia actually closed her eyes in pity. She always liked Dozle. He was always easy to manipulate, but had a good heart.
'What of his wife and daughter? Are they safe?' Asked Kycilia.
'Yes, we have them in our custody.' Said Barom. 'They're…currently mourning Dozle's death.' Kycilia nodded at that. Perhaps she can use them for her advantage.
'Bring them to Granada. Its our most secure place aside from A Baoa Qu.' Said Kycilia. 'And it'll be quicker than trying to move to Side 3. Is that understood?' Barom nodded and asked if there was anything else. 'Yes, have some men monitor Solomon. No doubt the Federation will use it as a staging ground for further attacks on our territory. Perhaps even A Baoa Qu. Also, try to interrogate some of the survivors. I want to know more about this new weapon that the Federation used in Solomon. We're going to need all the information we can get if we want to prevent them from using it in future decisive battles.' Barom nodded before ending the transmission. Once he was gone, Kycilia contacted someone else.
'Contact M'Quve.' Said Kycilia. 'Tell him to start moving more personal to Axis. Also get me Char. I need him away from Side 6 and to the frontlines again.'
Battle of Solomon- The battle of Solomon was a major turning point in the One Year War for the Earth Federation. Not only did it convince the other sides to fully commit to the side of the Federation, but it also gave the Federation something that they had been lacking since the start of the war, a real foothold on Zeon territory.
The battle had started when Tianem had sent the 88th assault group along with elements of the fourth fleet to attack Solomon itself, using beam dispersal missiles to give them cover from the majority of Solomon's defenses.
Unbeknownst to the enemy, some of these ships were crewed by AIs' only and they had been transmitting targeting data that was transmitted to the Federation new weapon, the Solar Ray system, which was essentially millions up millions of solar panels grouped together to unleash a concentrated blast of solar energy.
Once The Big Zam Is Mass Produced Mainly
The blast had destroyed the vast majority of Solomon's defense fleet and external defenses. The remaining forces were easy pickings for the Federation forces.
Things had gotten so desperate for the Zeon forces that admiral Dozle launched into the fray with a new mobile armor, now identified as the Big Zam. Through his actions, he saved countless Zeon lives by giving the evacuation shuttles time to escape while also killing thousands of Federation lives by personally destroying several cruisers with the new mobile armor, which has been capable of deflecting beam weaponry, something every single cruiser had been equipped with at the time.
Once The Big Zam Is Mass Produced Primarily
Dozle, wanting to give more time for the shuttles, headed for the fifth fleet, which had been guarding the Solar Ray system from enemy counter attack. Perhaps unbeknownst to the admiral, while he had been planning to do damage to the Federation forces guarding the Solar Ray, he had been close to killing admiral Tianem, who had his flagship close to the Solar Ray system.
What Will Happen Once The Big Zam Is Mass Produced. : Gundam
If it hadn't been for the White Base's complement of mobile suits, specifically the Gundam, its possible that Tianem may have died, crippling the Federation military as Tianem was one of their best officers as well as one of the few admirals still alive at the time.
Though some argue that the White Base crew wasn't needed, as Tianem had been told beforehand by several AIs' that the Big Zam has a weakness to projectile weapons, it can't be denied that the Big Zam wouldn't have been caught so intact if it weren't for the White Base's mobile suits. Tianem also personally commended the White Base crew's mobile suits, calling them brave soldiers that deserve every bit of praise that they receive, raising the popularity of the White Base amongst the Federation forces, while also raising their infamy amongst Zeon forces.
Once The Big Zam Is Mass Produced The Most
Aside from the damage done to Solomon by the Solar Ray, the space station was largely still operational when the Federation took it and they are now using it as a base of operation for future attacks on Solomon.
It would also be mentioned that the incredible success of the Solar Ray system sparked debate amongst Federation high command. Though the number of Solar panels needed for such a weapon was daunting, needing millions of them, many saw it as an excellent alternative to nuclear weapons, something that was banned due to the Antarctic treaty. There was also the added benefit of capturing the Big Zam mobile armor relatively intact. Once captured, the Big Zam was given over to the R&D division of the military, who took it apart and began looking into its technology, mostly the tech that deflected beam technology.
